New CT Scans Reveal Acupuncture Points

Acupuncture energy points and acupuncture energy pathways are scientifically measurable phenomena in repeated experiments. In the study published in the Journal of Electron Spectroscopy and Related Phenomena, the CT scans revealed clear distinctions between the non-acupuncture point and acupuncture energy points in anatomical structures.

Acupuncture energy points exhibit special oxygen characteristics, have a higher density of micro-vessels and contain a large amount of involuted microvascular structures. The non-acupuncture points did not exhibit these properties. Healthcare Medicine Institute, January 2014

T he Reckless Use Of Antibiotics In Farm Animals

The use of antibiotics in factory farmed pigs may be at least 40 times higher than in organically farmed pigs.

Since 2003, it has been a legal requirement in Europe to provide pigs on farms with straw or other similar material to

root in and explore. The same legislation prohibits routine tail-docking. Yet, over the past 12 yers, successive UK Prime

Ministers have failed to properly enforce this law. As a result, every year, around one-third of British pigs are reared in

abysmal, often cramped, and sometimes illegal conditions.

Their surroundings are barren; slatted floors don't allow straw. Bored and frustrated, these intelligent animals often fight

and bite each other.

The foul, crowded conditions in factory farms lead to an increased risk of disease outbreaks. So vast amounts of drugs are being routinely fed to pigs and other farm animals, even before they become sick. Such misuse of medicines on farms alos puts people at risk, creating excellent conditions for the emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria which can cause serious human infections.                                                   Farm Animal Voice magazine, Issue 195, Winter 2015

Antibiotics can be very useful in serious conditions being able to kill off dangerous bacteria and ease off unbearable pains such as dental abscess. However, the price for taking antibiotics is always the same - weaken immune system.

The abuse of antibiotics in farmed animals only adds to the concern of those who consume meat from such animals as animals' meat is saturated with antibiotics.

When we get a particular infection which is in its nature Cold, our bodies naturally try to fight it by warming this pathogenic Coldness up and creating Heat as a reaction to it - symptom of which is a fever.

When antibiotics are prescribed to fight infection they introduce into the body extremely harsh Coldness yet again. The aggressive action of antibiotics first of all rapidly cool down the reactive Heat created by the body itself  and then completely destroy the virus or bacteria.

However, the Cold action of the antibiotics is so harsh it inevitably leaves a mark behind in a form of weaken immune system.

Repetitive use of antibiotics and other medications therefore represents a burden for the immune system making it susceptible to even more infections and disorders.

Acupuncture and Autoimmune Diseases

Some of the most common autoimmune diseases include Rheumatoid Arthritis, MS, Lupus, Celiac disease, Inflammatory

Bowel diseases and Psoriasis. Western medicine does not have any curative therapy for autoimmune diseases and offers

only to relieve the symptoms with medications which in long term push disease deeper in the body.

In most cases classical acupuncture can help to treat autoimmune diseases very successfully.

The harmed energy in question is energy of one of the very deep running meridians. This energy is harmed due to the invasion of energetic coldness e.g. viral infection, vaccination, hereditary disease, severe stress levels or long term consumption of medications (steroids and antibiotics). Body fights this invasion with Heat causing inflammation in cells and tissues.

Corticosteroids, commonly known as steroids, are anti-inflammatory drugs used by conventional medicine. Steroids come

in many forms – they can be taken orally, injected, applied to the skin as a cream  or inhaled. They are popular

due to their outward effectiveness in relieving pain and inflammation. While they can be taken for many years to maintain

condition under control, in reality steroids do not solve the problem but push pathology deeper into the body.

After long term use of corticosteroids medications patients stop responding to it and get flare ups of the disease which

is being treated by steroids. This is because body is no longer able to cope with extreme force of steroids anymore.
From Chinese medicine point of view steroids very much weaken Kidney and Liver energies. They are used to treat orthopedic, digestive or auto-immune disorders just to mention a few – all of which acupuncture is effective in treating completely naturally.

Are Steroids Helpful Or Harmful?

Contraception Can Cause Cardiac Arrest

An 18-year-old university student, had been taking the combined oral contraceptive pill Microgynon for 18 months

for dysmenorrhoea - painful menstruation, typically involving abdominal cramps, when she presented to her GP

worried about acne on her back. As Dianette contraceptive pill was said to work better for acne, her GP switched

her to Dianette pill.
Two weeks after commencing the Dianette, the patient was rushed into hospital with sudden onset of chest pain

and respiratory distress. She was diagnosed with a pulmonary embolism and went on to have a cardiac arrest in the emergency department.  The young patient was consequently transferred to intesive care. On waking she reported to have reduced vission and spent over a month recovering in hospital. After discharge from the hospital she had to be undergoing twice weekly physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
Two months after discharge, a formal cognitive assessment revealed ongoing difficulties with verbal and visual recall and reduced speed of processing information.
Treating haematologist commented that the contraceptive pill Dianette definitely made a contribution to the blood clot the patient suffered.

CASE BOOK (Medical journal of Medical Protection society) vol. 23, issue 2, November 2015

Contraceptive pills are regularly prescribed by GPs for acne and menstrual problems. From classical acupuncture point of view, the cause of the painful periods and acne is the stagnation of Liver energy and contraceptive pill unfortunately only adds up to this stagnation. In extreme cases the severe stagnation caused by the pill can cause a blood clot.

With acupuncture Liver energy stagnation is effectively and naturally resolved. As it is strengthened and made to flow smoothly again patients report relief not only of menstrual pains and acne but also of other health problems such as improved vision and resolved allergy, hay fever to mention a few.

Premenstrual Syndrome And Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder

PMS is the name given to the physical, psychological and behavioural symptoms that can occur in the two weeks before a

woman's monthly period. There are many different symptoms of PMS, but typical examples are: bloating, breast pain, mood

swings, feeling irritable. These symptoms usually improve when woman's period starts and disappear a few days afterwards.

It is estimated that around 1 in every 20 women have symptoms that are severe enough to stop them living their normal lives.

This is often the result of a more intense type of PMS known as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD). Certain lifestyle

changes may help you manage PMS if your symptoms aren't severe. These include a healthy diet, regular exercise to improve

your health and fitness and learning techniques to help relieve stress.

Psychological therapy or hormone medications such as  hormonal pill may be recommended by your GP in more severe cases.

NHS Choices

From acupuncture point of view the common cause of  Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and  its more severe form Premenstrual Dysphoric disorder (PMDD) is a stagnation of the one of the deepest seated energy pathways which corresponds to production of oestrogen and progesterone in the body. Both, PMS and PMDD, can be successfully treated with acupuncture by moving the stagnation and supporting the whole reproductive system to get back to balance.

 Menopause and Acupuncture

Menopause occurs in women usually at the age of 49 when fluids dry out causing dryness of skin and hair.

It is a completely normal and natural process which in healthy, balanced body should not cause a woman any

problems - she has the last bleeding by which the reproductive system stops being active. However, sometimes things

go wrong and women can go through months and even years of highly unpleasant ‘menopausal symptoms’.

The mainmenopausal symptoms include: hot flushes both during day and/or night, night sweats, aching joints,

fatigue,lowered libido, irritability and insomnia.

Western medicine most commonly offers women with menopausal symptoms hormonal drug treatment called ‘Hormonal Replacement Therapy’ (HRT). HRT confuses the hormones and forces woman’s body to believe that menopause was a mistake. This is not only against body's natural rhythms, HRT also represents a grave danger in a form of a breast cancer, which is one of HRT’s side effects. Women are often put on HRT for life and the risk of stop taking it represents facing very unpleasant emotional and physical changes.

To rectify woman’s body, classical acupuncture works on nourishing and getting back to the balance the energy pathways which govern the reproductive system.

As we all know a good night sleep is irreplaceable. After a deep, nourishing sleep we wake up feeling refreshed, alert,

feeling and looking good and perform well during the day.

If we were to follow our natural body clock we would aim to go to sleep before midnight, preferably at 10pm to make

sure we are already asleep between 11pm and 1am. The time between 11.00pm and 1.00am is the best time of the day

for deep sleep and rejuvenation, it is also known as ‘Beauty Sleep’. During this time human body is at its most capable to

preserve its energy, relax, soothe and allow for the deepest rest to occur.
Many important healing and restorative functions in body take place during sleep - physiological processes slow down, muscles and organs relax, liver builds and synthesizes, there is less adrenaline pumping through veins, blood pressure falls, muscle cells grow and regenerate, injuries heal, hormones are secreted...

However, many people suffer from sleep problems which can range from difficulty falling asleep, difficulty staying asleep - waking up during the night, or inability to sleep at all.
The insufficiency of sleep makes us feel not only tired and irritable but also unable to function properly during the day which can negatively affect our professional and personal lives. We can turn to medications, alcohol or even drugs to help us to deal with the problem but these often only make things worse in the long run. Furthermore chronic sleep problems weaken our immune system making us prone to fall ill more easily.

From classical acupuncture point of view, the cause of sleep problems is different for different people. Acupuncture treats sleep problems from holistic point of view and as such takes into account person as a whole being and understands their unique constitution. Once the imbalance in the body which is causing the sleep problem is pin-pointed, acupuncturist then works on re-balancing the body-mind. This allows for a true healing on a deep level to take place.
